Adventures of a home traveller: handprinted artwork, drawings and 3D objects

On adventure
I like to watch the sunset. Then I enjoy such a pink orange sky with white stripes of airplanes in it. I then muse and wonder; where are those planes going, what is their destination?
I used to like to take a plane and I regularly went on adventures. The trips to warm, messy countries were a welcome change from my organized daily life full of responsibilities. As a traveler I freely gained new experiences of exotic cultures. I think back on that with great pleasure.
With the climate crisis, corona and war, that will no longer happen for the time being. But that's not bad at all. You don't have to leave home to travel. You can travel in your head.
Personally, I prefer to travel with a zeppelin, a submarine and the last year, with a rocket. My world is no longer limited to Earth. Sometimes I go alone, but often with a companion; an animal, a lover, a hero.
I record my imaginary journey in colorful figurative works on paper. I use different printing techniques and play with the printing formats, colors and composition. Recently I also depict my stories with digital drawings and experiment with small three-dimensional objects in cardboard and plastic. The works become memories of my journey, like postcards and souvenirs do. I also hope to inspire others to travel in your head. Who knows where your journey will take you when anything is possible.

Exhibitions and commissioned work
I exhibit my work in galleries and art-lendingcompagnies (kunstuitleen). My work can also be rented through these campagnies. My work is included in various collections, including the collections of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Military Museum, Eindhoven University of Technology and the Kunstgebouw Zuid-Holland.
I regularly make commissioned work for individuals and corporate companies. For example, I was commissioned for the 'Nijmegenprent', which was unveiled by the mayor Bruls in a tribal Stevenskerk. As icing on the cake, I was made an honorary citizen of this historic city.
Project Framework II
I am currently organizing project Framework II: a large collaborative project between 20 visual artists and 20 word artists. It is the sequel to the successful project Framework I project that I initiated in 2021 at NEstudio's. As a side activity of the Framework II project, I want to make a temporary geographical collection of poems of the Noordereiland. This includes selected poems from a poetry competition (yet to be organised). In this way I connect the art project with public life on the Noordereiland.
Project Raamwerk II will open in June 2023 with an afternoon full of poetry readings, artist talks and music. Preparations will start in January. These can be followed via the website of the NEstudios. Would you like to receive an invitation for the opening of Framework II? Then pass on your email address to me. Or sign up for my newsletter.
